Chiaradio Calls for Democratic Party Pride at Marion County Fundraiser

October 8, 2026 Chiaradio Calls for Democratic Party Pride at Marion County Fundraiser COLUMBIA, MS — Democratic congressional nominee Michael A. Chiaradio joined United States Senate nominee Scott Colom and local Democrats Monday evening for the Marion County Democratic Executive Committee’s Annual Beans and Greens Fundraiser. Chiaradio spoke ahead of Colom, who also addressed attendees during the event. During his remarks, Chiaradio discussed his campaign platform of lowering healthcare costs, investing in infrastructure, strengthening public schools, and supporting small businesses and small farms. But his central message focused on the urgency of voter participation ahead of the November 3 general election. Chiaradio emphasized that the election is bigger than any individual candidate, including himself and Colom, and that meaningful political change requires participation beyond the candidates appearing on the ballot. He described the importance of building a movement in which everyone has a role to play, while also emphasizing that a successful movement must have clear goals and expectations of its participants. Chiaradio encouraged Mississippi Democrats to take pride in their political participation, speak openly about their beliefs, and become more involved in their communities. He closed by returning to his campaign’s central message, “We CAN Win!” Chiaradio also thanked Marion County Democratic Executive Committee Chair Darrick McGowan and the entire committee for organizing the event and welcoming him to Columbia.
